Mr. Socrates Ortiz Jr. is the Principal of Middle College High School, a Title I Early College public school located on the Campus of LaGuardia Community College in Queens. He is also a member of the Executive Board of the Middle College National Consortium. MCHS is also part of the NYS Performance Standard Consortium.

In partnership with the City University of New York's York College and the Early College Initiative, Socrates has been creative in developing a scope and sequence that allows students to earn their high diploma and two years College Associate Degrees in 5 years. Many students have been taking advantage and completing the Associate's degree in 4 years.

In addition to Socrates' work as a school leader, he is an Ambassador to the College in High School Alliance (CHSA), a coalition of national, state, and local organizations working on impacting policies to support high school s students to enroll in authentic, affordable college pathways toward postsecondary degrees. Socrates is a licensed Psychotherapist, an adjunct sociology professor, and a true believer in giving back.
